Stuart Baxter has reportedly signed a three-year contract with Kaizer Chiefs at a time where Amakhosi fans are desperate for silverware.
Baxter will be returning to Kaizer Chiefs amidst a six-year trophy drought that has caused frustration amongst the Amakhosi faithful.
BAXTER HAS BROUGHT SILVERWARE TO CHIEFS BEFORE
Baxter was the man in charge of Chiefs the last time they won any silverware.
The Soweto giants were crowned the 2015 PSL Champions with Baxter at the helm. He also won a ‘double’ with the side in his first season in charge. Winning the 2012/13 PSL and the Nedbank Cup season.
Baxter had seemingly reassured Chiefs status as South Africa’s best side and the ‘Trophy Kings’ of South African football.
This has all changed since he left but Baxter is capable of bringing the glory days back to Amakhosi. Baxter had them playing an attractive brand of football that Chiefs are known for.
Baxter balanced the youth and inexperience in his side. He had every player playing for the jersey and the massive name that the club carries.
The players embodied the brand that brought the club so much success.
Having won silverware in his first season Baxter could be a good omen for the side ahead of their first-ever CAF Champions League semi-final clash against Wydad Casablanca.
Amakhosi will be hoping Baxter can lead his side to a historic maiden title in Africa.
