Trouble will follow the Ngemas throughout June and July…Lindiwe Ngema (Nomvelo Makhanya) might as well have buried her parents’ marriage when she went to ask Neo Mokhethi (Jerry Mofokeng wa Makhetha) for money again.
She first asked Neo for money a year ago to finalise the payments for her parents’ house and then lied to her father about it. And her father, Mlungisi Ngema (Patrick Mofokeng), is a proud man who doesn’t like hand-outs.
MLUNGISI’S STEAMY AFFAIR WITH NONZI EXPOSED
Mlungisi is fuming at the moment because he feels betrayed by his wife, Zinzile (Gcina Nkosi), who spent a night with Neo. He’s also humiliated because his daughter and wife did not tell the truth about how they got money for the house.
Things will take a turn for the worst in July when his affair with Nonzi (Thandeka Nodada) gets exposed. While we know that Mlungisi doesn’t care about his marriage anymore and is plotting revenge on his wife, he won’t be pleased to be the talk of the town as he’s very much a private man.
WILL ZINZILE OR MLUNGISI FILE FOR DIVORCE?
Zinzile will reconnect with Neo again in July. She’s going to play detective and will get the bad news she’s been dreading about her husband’s affair. This will lead to her eventually finding comfort in Neo’s arms again and might be the last straw…and the end of her marriage.
Hold your horses and get ready for a heated battle between Nonzi and Zinzile when they go head to head next month. At this rate, it looks like Scandal! writers have planned Patrick Mofokeng’s exit because they’re making Neo look like the good guy for a change. Though the June and July teasers don’t reveal how their marriage will end yet, we know the end is just a matter of time.
PATRICK MOFOKENG ON HIS ‘SCANDAL’ EXIT
Patrick Mofokeng has already exited Scandal! after playing Mlungisi for seven years. He is currently playing the role of Mandla Cele on Mzansi Magic’s Linganishoni alongside Muvhango’s Liteboho Molise who plays his wife on the show. Scandal! is shooting months in advance, so we’ll still see him playing Mlungisi for a while.
This is what the actor told Sowetan about Scandal! and his new role on Linganishoni:
“It’s an exciting challenge and it’s something different. It’s a change for me since I was on Scandal! for some time. The character is intriguing as he’s a politician and tenderpreneur. People can expect some bombshells and excitement.
“Initially I was meant to be on Scandal! for four months, but that turned into seven years. The character just grew. Before I was doing a lot of film work, needed a break for a year and Scandal! was that for me.
‘Autopilot and microwave acting’
“For the last two years I have been looking for change and to start acting again. Soapies sometimes become autopilot and microwave acting – you cook and eat it now. This show for me is exciting because we are on location and I’m being reborn.”
Prediction: Mlungisi will either leave for KwaZulu-Natal alone or with his new lover Nonzi who might ensnare him with a baby!
