Jacob Zuma’s former flame and baby mama, Nonkanyiso ‘LaConco’ Conco has proven to be a fan-favourite on Showmax and Mzansi Magic’s reality TV show Real Housewives of Durban (RHOD).
Nonkanyiso ‘LaConco’ Conco clears up relationship status
After making her debut on the show earlier this year, the KZN-based entrepreneur – who was once one of Jacob Zuma’s best-kept secrets – brought a new dynamic to the fray as she entered an already tense social circle in the fourth episode of the season.
LaConco was first introduced to the spotlight in 2018 when she was revealed as Zuma’s young fiancée with a 52-year age gap between the two.
In April 2018, she gave birth to a baby boy that she shares with Zuma. It was said Zuma had paid lobola for LaConco in preparation for their polygamous marriage, making her his seventh wife. However, in June 2020 the couple reportedly split.
Now, ZAlebs reports that even though she initially introduced herself as a ‘fiancée’ (raising speculations that she is probably still engaged to the former president), LaConco has ultimately managed to break away from the title of being Zuma’s ex.
On the reality show, she still wore her ring and spoke about the former president, even though she did not mention him by name. It is believed that the Zuma family warned her not to spill any secrets while on camera.
And so as of 7 June, she even went as far as to hint that she is a single woman on Twitter. In a tweet she wrote: “I refuse to be wealthy and single, no kuzosha abantu [people will burn (suffer)]”.
Her followers took to the comments section to say she is too beautiful to be single. She then confirmed that she is indeed single by replying, “Well nazo! [there you have it]”.
Another fan asked her directly how it is possible that she is single. To this, the businesswoman replied with an isiZulu idiom, saying: “Eyi amanzi angcwele emadolweni kubo [they are too afraid to approach me]”.
Truth or Dare
In one of the more spicy moments of Real Housewives of Durban, LaConco was asked whether she would have dated Zuma’s son, Duduzane, if she did not meet the former president first.
During the Truth or Dare game, she said that as a woman she has a certain type of men and Duduzane is not one of them. “Because I’m so sure. I get so many stops, DMs… I think I’m just that woman with a certain preference. Not at all, definitely no,” she said.
