The Delta State government led by Ifeanyi Okowa, has disagreed with the Attorney General of the Federation, on how the N2.218 billion, James Ibori loot recovered, will be used.
Delta State government said, it will take the Federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari, to the Supreme Court of Nigeria to reclaim, that which belongs to the state.
Delta State Commissioner of information, Ehiedu Aniagwu, who made the position of the state government known to newsmen in Asaba, the state capital said, the recovered money was taken from the purse of Delta State, which should be returned to the purse of state for the development of the citizens.
The Commissioner for Information, Ehiedu Aniagwu was reacting to the AGF of Nigeria, Abubakar Malami, SAN, who disclosed that the repatriated loot from Britain, will be used to complete the Second Niger bridge under construction, Abuja-Kano Road and the Lagos-Ibadan road.
Ehiedu Aniagwu, who disagreed with the position of the AGF, said, the state government will drag the Federal government to the Supreme Court to reclaim, the money looted from the purse of Delta State.
“We would try to get take advantage of the legal system to make the federal government correct the injustice they are about to visit on us as a state.
“If they are quite sure that the funds, they are about to repatriate left Delta State on account of those who have governed the state in the past, on what basis would they now take the money to another place,” he said.

Nationalwatchng had reported that the British High Commissioner,Ms. Catriona Laing, to Nigeria, had, on Tuesday, in Abuja, said, a total of £4.2m recovered by the UK government, from James Ibori family and friends will be returned to the Nigerian government.
Recall that James Ibori was formal governor of Delta State from 1999-2007. While the loot of the formal governor of is still being recovered, the Federal government of formal President Goodluck Jonathan granted him presidential pardon in 2011.
