Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, has replied critics, who are criticizing that he recommended the appointment of the EFCC chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
The Senoir Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, Abubakar Malami said, he was happy that the criticism of his influence in the appointment of Bawa, was not on the question of whether Bawa is competent for the position.
Abubakar Malami, said that Bawa, having headed three operational units in EFCC, and in three high points of Lagos, PortHarcourt of Rivers state and Ibadan of Oyo state, he was confident of his ability to perform and bring result.
The Attorney-General, however reveled, that contrary to the criticism that he single-handedly appointed Bawa, four names were submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari, to choose, and Bawa was selected.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Abubakar Malami, SAN, said: “I am happy that most of the comments made are not on his capacity, intelligence, competence and associated ability to deliver. His capacity to deliver was never questioned across the nation.

“The question is whether justice has been served, whether public interest has been served having the chairman appointed with a particular regard to his capacity and ability to deliver.
“My answer is yes. He has the capacity, ability and institutional history of the institution to do justice by way of bringing about added value.”
Abdulrasheed Bawa, the newly appointed Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, is the first appointed chairman of the financial commission, who was not a Police Officer.
