A young and talented midfielder has returned to Kaizer Chiefs to be assessed by Stuart Baxter before a final decision can be made on his future.
Given Thibedi, one of the highly-rated midfielders by the majority of Amakhosi fans, was on a season-long loan deal at Swallows FC.
It was his second successive season with Swallows after joining them in the GladAfrica Championship at the start of the 2020-21 season.
This was after Gavin Hunt and the entire Chiefs technical team decided that Thibedi wasn’t in their plans for the campaign.
Now, as per the rules, Thibedi will go back to his parent club, Chiefs, and Swallows chairman David Mogashoa has confirmed the news to KickOff.
Mogashoa said newly-appointed Baxter will have a look at Thibedi, and decide if he wants him in his Chiefs team before Swallows can make a move for the midfielder’s services.
“He has gone back to Kaizer Chiefs. The new coach has to look at him. We will wait and see [if there is chance of him returning to Swallows next season],” said Mogashoa.
Thibedi was playing for the club’s reserve team when Baxter was at Chiefs six years ago, but with Arthur Zwane now part of the first team, chances of him cracking the nod are promising.
The 23-year-old made a total of 21 appearances across all competitions for Swallows this past season, and he has a single assist to his name.
