Kaizer Chiefs set sights on former Orlando Pirates outcast!

Kaizer Chiefs have set their sights on another European-based player who also happens to be a former Orlando Pirates outcast.

According to the information gathered by TheSouthAfrican.com, Amakhosi have already made contact with Tercious Malepe to inquire about his availability.

Malepe is currently on the books of Ukrainian side FC Mynai but his contract is coming to an end on 30 June as he joined the European outfit on a one-year deal in October 2020.

The 24-year-old is keen on a return to South Africa, and he’s tempted to don the gold and black jersey after being ‘rejected’ by Pirates.

Despite coming through their youth ranks, Pirates never really gave Malepe a chance to be part of their first team.

Instead, Pirates loaned him out to a number of of PSL clubs, including Moroka Swallows, Ajax Cape Town and Chippa United.

After spending two seasons on loan at Chippa United, Malepe returned to Pirates in 2020 only to be released as his five-year contract had expired.

The 24-year would then seal a shock move to Europe despite interest from a number of PSL teams at the time.

Now, with Chiefs looking to sign him, Malepe, who plays as a defender and midfielder, becomes a third European-based player they are interested in after being linked to Keagan Dolly and Bongani Zungu.

Dolly is a free agent after being released by French Ligue 1 side Montpelier last week, while Zungu’s future remains in the balance at Amiens SC.

Chiefs have also been linked with several high-profile players locally but they have, so far, only confirmed the acquisition of Phathutshedzo Nange.
