Increase Our Quota, 9, Is Too Small – Gov. Emmanuel Tells Air Chief

The Executive governor of Akwa-Ibom State, Governor Udom Emmanuel, has appealed to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Isiaka Amao, to increase the recruitment quota of Akwa-Ibom indigenes in Nigeria Air Force.


Gov Udom, lamented the meager number of 9 slots the Nigerian Air Force gives its citizens, while most states, have larger slots.

Lamenting the unbalance recruitment slot of nine for Akwa-Ibom Indigenes, Gov Emmanuel, said the large number of intelligent applicants from his state, requires that the Nigerian Air Force changes the imbalance quota, it is giving its states.

He said: ” “I want to use this opportunity to appeal to the Chief of Air staff, that every year you advertise, our people apply in numbers. and only nine people are considered. Please we will use this occasion to solicit for a larger percentage of our people in the Armed Forces.”


Governor Udom Emmanuel, made the disclosure at Ibom Ground Hall in Uyo, during the funeral service of Late Formal Chief of Air Staff,  Air Marshal Nsikak Eduok (Rtd).

He described the Late Air Chief as an intelligent and accomplished decorated Officer, stating, that the state has actually lost a statesman.


“I stand here today filled with a deep sense of loss and grief on behalf of the Government and the good people of Akwa Ibom State, to bid farewell to a quintessential Nigerian patriot, a trail-blazer, an epitome of courage and bravery, a decorated Air Force Officer and above all, a husband, father and a devout Christian the Late Air Marshall Nsikak Eduok”.

Governor Emmaunel also presented Certification of Occupancy of a 30 hectares of land to Chief of Air Staff, for the building Nigerian Air Force Training School, to immortalize, the Late Air Chief, Air Marshal Nsikak Eduok (Rtd).
