The organized Labour, Nigeria Labour Congress has declared nationwide strike on Wednesday, over issues of National Minimum wage bill, which seeks remove National minimum wage from the Exclusive list to the concurrent list.
The bill titled, “HB 950”, was sponsored by Hon. Garba Datti representing, Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, Kaduna State, it has passed the first and second reading, in February, in the Federal House of Representative.
However, the organized labour said, it was against the bill, because it is not in the interest of Nigerian workers, and therefore called on Nigerian workers to down tools on Wednesday.
Recall that Nationalwatchng had reported of the threat by Ayuba Wabba, NLC Presiddent, last Tuesday, that they will embark on national strike, if the national Assembly go ahead to pass the bill.
The National leadership of labour led by Comr. Ayuba Wabba, said it has exhausted all diplomacy to get that government listen to labour, all to no avail; and therefore called on Nigerian workers to down tools.
Labour said it was worried that the government have failed to understand the plight of Nigeria workers, stating that most state government have not implemented the 30, 000 minimum wage, which was passed three years ago.
