“We’re delighted to be able to welcome Enock to the club and are looking forward to working with him,” Potters head coach Graham Potter told the club’s official website.
“He has a great deal of experience for somebody of his age, including Champions League and international football.
“He’s primarily a central midfielder, although he is capable of playing in numerous positions, is open-minded, adaptable, and very keen to learn and develop.
“He will add competition to our existing options in that area of the squad going into the new season.”
The midfielder joins Brighton in a deal that is similar to Leicester City’s signing of forward Patson Daka, his close friend and now ex-teammate from their time together at the Austrian champions.
Lusaka-born Mwepu played 45 times across all competitions for Salzburg last season, scoring 10 goals and assisting a further seven strikes, and also won seven titles since joining the club in 2018.
He joins an array of African stars who ply their trade in the Premier League, including Tau, Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy, and Serge Aurier, among others.
