Biden, Harris Shun Buhari, Call Kenya And DRC, In First White House Call To Africa

The President of United States of America, Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris shunned a call to Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari, in their first White House call to Africa.

While President of the most powerful nation in the world, Biden called, President Uhuru kenyatta of Kenya, the Vice president Kamala, put a call to, President Felix Tshisekedi, of Democratic Republic of Congo, on Thursday and Friday, respectively, last week.

A White House statement, said the President Biden and Vice Harris calls were to US close allies.

Though Nigeria is the biggest economy in Africa and among black nations, it seems to have fallen off with the United States in close relationship.

Experts however, are of the opinion that the Biden administration may not have issues with Nigeria as a nation, but the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, over human rights abuses, especially the #ENDSARS and #OccupyLekkiTollGate protests, which drew international condemnation, especially given a detailed coverage by Cable News Network, CNN.

Sources say the administration President Buhari has not scaled good in human rights, which may constitute Amnesty International (AI), and Transparency International (TI) latest poor ranking.

These experts said, may be the reason, why white House team, may advise President Biden and Vice President Harris to boycott a call to President Buhari.

In his call to Kenya’s President, Uhuru Kenyatta, President Biden expressed happiness, with the role Kenya is playing in ensuring peace in East Africa, promising more support from America to sustain peace and stability in the region.

Vice President Kamala Harris, in her call to President Felix Tshisekedi of DR Congo, promised more economic partnership between United States and DR Congo for the countries economic growth, Nationalwatchng reports.
