Wintertime is also pasta time. When it’s cold, you crave those hearty, filling meals which warm you up from the inside and pasta is one of the great ways to do so. However, if you want to reduce your red meat intake and add something extra, our Beef & Mushroom Bolognese is here for you and your family.

Mushrooms add more of an umami flavour to the minced beef of this recipe and add some extra texture. You can add the mushrooms right at the start of this recipe or you can add them about 15 minutes to go. It depends on the texture you’re looking for.

This Beef & Mushroom Bolognese follows a very traditional Italian recipe but without the celery and adds those delicious mushrooms. Cooking time is a minimum of 30 minutes on simmer, but you’ll get the best results if you let it go for 2 hours.

The addition of mushrooms makes this Beef & Mushroom Bolognese taste even meatier. With a lot less fat and sodium than a full meat version, this is a stunning dish, every night of the week.
