2023: We Didn’t Endorse Tinubu – Afenifere

The South-West Socio-cultural organization, Afenifere has denied the endorsement of the national leader of All Progressive Congress, APC, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for presidential position come 2023.


Afenifere said it was unthinkable that while the group is morning the death of its Publicity Secretary, Yinka Odumakin, it will be endorsing for 2023.

In a statement made available to newsmen by the Director of Communication Afenifere, Sola Lawal, said the rumour that 96-year-old Pa Fasoranti, who was former leader of the group, was unfounded as Pa Fasoranti has handed over, and therefore cannot speak for the group.

“Pa Fasoranti had taken a deserved rest when he formally handed over to Chief Ayo Adebanjo and the former couldn’t have spoken for Afenifere during their visit to his Akure home.


“We have temporarily stopped all activities in honour of Odumakin who is still lying in the morgue, cold and lonely.

“ Adeyeye’s visit into Afenifere space at this period of huge loss and intense mourning is disrespectful and insensitive.


“Also, being a former Afenifere top notch and Odumakin’s immediate predecessor, Adeyeye should cease all activities and join us in mourning at this trying times.”


Recall that the leader of a group, South West Agenda, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, in a statement on Tuesday claimed his group secured the support of Afenifere for its candidate during a visit to Pa Reuben Fasoranti, erstwhile Afenifere leader.
