The strike is concentrated on the necessity for raise .

This decision was born after the union did not reach a favourable agreement with their employer, NSFAS.

The workers under Nehawu are demanding an eight percent raise due to the depression but NSFAS claimed that the scheme is additionally facing a tough time.

Despite the scheme’s plea saying it’s been suffering from the pandemic, the workers are still not giving in to the claims.

Nehawu indicated that NSFAS received some funds before the nationwide lockdown and ever since, it had not been accounted for.

The workers union also made it known that they need NSFAS administrator Randall Carolissen to step down.

The workers accused him of plunging the scholar aid into crisis.
