South Africa is now during a “post-Covid new normal”- these are the words of the Covid-19 Ministerial Advisory Committee chairperson, Professor Salim Abdool Karim.
He said South Africa is getting wont to containing the virus and therefore the work needed to be done is to figure on curbing “super spreading events”.
Karim said that South Africans will got to suits this new life and find out how to measure with Covid-19.
He said that citizens would still got to confirm they take Covid-19 protocols with extreme seriousness and protect themselves especially once they find themselves in large gatherings.
“Where there’s an outsized number of individuals , it’s not always easy to implement social distancing and mask-wearing then on.”
“In those settings, we’ve to possess a situation where we reduce our risk of super spreading events,” he said.
Karim also stated that the curfew and restrictions on alcohol aren’t necessary and lifting the ban on international travels should be considered under level 1 lockdown.
South Africans expect President Cyril Ramaphosa to announce measures to relax the present lockdown regulations.
The president during a meeting with South African National Editors’ Forum (Sanef) Last week said the National Coronavirus Command Council was consulting with social partners about the likelihood of moving to subsequent level, level 1.
