The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has said the South-East were not curious about having a president of Igbo extraction.

Naija Trending News recalls that Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation has said it had been only curious about Igbo 2023 presidency and not the pursuit of sovereign State by any group within the Southeast in what appears as a spite on Nnamdi Kanu.

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a secessionist group seeking to interrupt faraway from Nigeria to urge a secure a sovereign State identified as “Biafra Republic.”

This online news platform understands that Ohanaeze clarified its position on Biafra and Igbo 2023 Presidency through its President in Anambra State, Chief Damian Okeke-Ogene while briefing reporters after the group’s meeting on Tuesday in Awka, the Anambra capital .

The Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation maintained that it’s a right to the Southeast zone, not a privilege to urge the presidency in 2023, adding that the leadership of Ohaneze has not mandated anyone or group to pursue actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra but Presidency of Igbo extraction.

But reacting during a statement by the National Director of data for MASSOB, Mr Sunday Okereafor, faulted the claim by Ohanaeze that it’s the mandate to understand a Nigerian president of Igbo extraction and Biafra.

He said, “Ohanaeze has no agenda, but only pursuing their interest. They (Ohanaeze) are now shouting Igbo presidency. one among them is saying if they fail to urge Igbo presidency in 2023, they’re going to join Nnamdi Kanu to urge Biafra.

“The fact is that once they get thereto point, one Ibrahim will emerge, and Onu are going to be the vice chairman .

“Ohanaeze isn’t the voice of the Igbo, MASSOB is that the voice of the Igbo. The leaders of the Igbo are in MASSOB. If you present Igbo presidency and Biafra to the Igbo, you’ll see that the Igbo will pick Biafra and dump Igbo presidency.”
